We love Mr. Jeff! Virtual piano lessons with Mr. Jeff have been a bright spot every week for my kindergartener during distance learning. Mr. Jeff makes learning fun! My son can’t wait for his piano lessons. We are so grateful to have found Mr. Jeff!
— Erin Dickinson

“I am constantly amazed at how much my son’s piano skills have progressed since working with Mr. Jeff. We can’t even help him much with practice anymore because he is more advanced than we are! And I notice, with every lesson, that he is laughing and having fun while learning, and he always ends his lessons feeling happy and positive. He always ends “on a good note.”

Piano Lessons

Beginner Piano Lessons for Children and Adults. Ages 4 and up. Piano is the foundation for all the building blocks of music. When thinking about the FUNdamentals of music, piano is the instrument most easiest to grasp as everything is laid out in a visually simple way! There’s a plethora of songs that can be played without any musical experience necessary! Jeff starts at the very beginning of numbering our fingers and introduces written music. Through the time tested Alfred’s Piano method, Jeff teaches students how to read and perform music.

My five-year-old kiddo cannot wait for his weekly piano lessons with Mr. Jeff. Those lessons (even via Zoom) are focused on keys and notes, but more importantly, they’re focused on laughter and connection. Thank you, Jeff, for sharing the world of music from such a kind and loving place. We are really grateful that you are in our lives.

Guitar Lessons

Jeff Klemm’s 20 plus years as guitar player in bands such as Maid Myriad, Via Lotus, Diamond Kites and The Letters have taught him a versatile way of blending rhythm and lead guitar together to create his own signature sound. Beginning with chords and fundamentals, Jeff will have students playing songs in just a few weeks! As always, Jeff believes creativity is sparked when students begin to write their own chord progressions so songwriting is highly encouraged!

Jeff started teaching piano lessons to my daughter in August of 2020. She has always had an ear for music, but has had no formal training. In 4 months, she has learned so much! She is already learning to incorporate both hands while playing. This has not been a normal year, and all of her lessons have been virtual, but you wouldn’t know it. It’s like he’s right there in the room with her, showing her how to play. She looks forward to her lessons every week, and thinks Mr. Jeff is, “Very nice, and really funny.” He has a great sense of humor, and you can really tell he loves working with kids, and teaching kids the lifelong gift of a love for music.

Voice Lessons

Using techniques he learned as a Vocal Performance Major at the University of Akron, Jeff helps students create a custom warmup routine that is hand tailored to the student. Using that as a strong base to stretch the vocal cords and solidifying the range, the goal then becomes range expansion. By implementing popular songs and standing on the shoulders of vocal legends of the past, the student instantly sees results in their vocal prowess.

My son could not play any instrument or read music when he started with Mr. Jeff and now he is doing both! He looks forward to his weekly lessons, he is engaged, and he’s progressing so well. I would recommend ANYONE to reach out to Mr. Jeff if music is of interest to you.

Bass Lessons

Bass guitar is actually Jeff’s first instrument, instilling in him a natural sense of rhythm playing. Students will learn how to be part of the perfect low end rhythm section by studying the bass greats, learning scales and licks.

Jeff is a preschool teacher, musician, and a father of a toddler so he knows how to make it fun and entertaining while exhibiting the patience of a saint .

Songwriting Lessons

It all starts with the song, but how do you teach songwriting? Just like anything, you break it down to the very nuts and bolts that hold the system together. Through study of melody, structure and lyrics, we will break down the songwriting process. Students can bring their own songs to the table or Jeff will help cowrite from scratch.

Mr. Jeff rocks! His passion for music, skill, and personality make him a highly qualified teacher.

Preschool Music Lessons

For the age group, I nurture the natural interest they already have with music to generate a fascination and playfulness with the wonder of it all. Kids are naturally musical and fearless! Using gross motor activities to teach them rhythm, melody, names of instruments, and notes, I pair it with an introduction to the fine motor skills necessary to play an instrument.

Above all, I work hard to make our music time FUN, SILLY AND PLAYFUL! The goal is to cultivate their Good Music Energy (trademark pending!) I'm VERY big into using children’s natural silliness (and their affinity for adults who can match their silliness LOL) as a teaching tool. Rather than viewing music as a boring chore, through silliness and playfulness we will plant the seed of music as a fun activity and hopefully later on it will blossom into a passion.

Thanks to Jeff for inspiring my son, being a great role model, and putting together a fantastic virtual recital.

Practice Guidance Sessions

Looking for more of a Montessori approach? Growing up with ADHD as a child, Jeff knows how hard it is to keep focus on an instrument. Offering a Practice Guidance sessions, Jeff will be more of a “coach” while the student practices offering feedback, suggesting ideas and redirecting focus for whatever instrument your child will be using.

One-on-One Preschool Classes

I know it’s hard keeping education at the forefront during this pandemic when many kids are forced to stay home from school, that’s why I started giving one-on-one preschool classes using techniques and lesson plans I developed from my time as a preschool teacher. I start with a developmental assessment and then collaborate with parents to create a custom curriculum based on areas where the child could use a little extra help. For ages 3-6

I’ve been taking piano lessons with Jeff for a few months now, and am so glad I took the leap. Jeff makes learning fun and easy to understand, even for someone like me who is starting from scratch a little later in life
— Crissy

Lessons with Jeff are amazing and wholly worthwhile. They are fun, educational, and energetic — just what my kids need to be engaged and motivated to learn!
